Create more than you consume

I keep a rough tally in my head of how much I take in versus how much I put out. It isn’t close.

Hours of videos, posts, threads: other people’s thinking, most of it good. And then on my side: a few messages, some slides, the occasional idea I never write down.

I don’t think consuming is the problem. Almost everything I know came from someone else’s work. But there’s a difference between reading to think and reading instead of thinking, and lately I’ve been on the wrong side of it.

The uncomfortable part is that creating is slower, and the result is worse. Anything I make will be less polished than what I could have watched instead. Which is exactly why it’s worth doing: making something forces a kind of attention that scrolling never asks for.

So: this. One page at a time, published before I feel ready.
